Feiyue| Such a great brand that we did not cherish and…

If you are a sporty Sneaker lover, you may have a variety of limited edition air Jordan and countless converse colors piled up, but you don’t necessarily know it — an 86-year-old Chinese Original Sneaker — Feiyue.

Originating in Shanghai in 1920, Feiyue is the product of a collision between 7,000 years of Chinese history and modernity. Famous for its comfort, it is loved by all social classes in China, from farmers to politicians, from national football players to famous shaolin monks.

FEIYUE’s factory has maintained the ancient shoemaking process since 1905 and has been producing the retro style there ever since.

The price is still very cheap in China – only 90 RMB

In this pair of shoes has faded out of the sight of the people, forgotten by the people of the time, in another piece of land in the world, this pair of shoes was actually hot, set off sneakers retro wind! French Elle magazine praised “leap shoes” for challenging converse’s fashion dominance among young people. Feiyue VS Converse? !

What’s more, Feiyue has its stores in many European countries as well as South Korea

Feiyue shoes are popular with celebrities and become a must-have item for street fashion photography

The product line is mostly named under the special Chinese martial arts style, under the special Soul style and the special white and black styles that are created under the special Shaolin Soul style

In the department store on the champs-elysees in Paris, feiyue is prominently displayed in the fashion store, next to the well-known Nike, adidas… Feiyue VS adidas? !

Yes, the 90 yuan pair of sneakers that the Chinese don’t want to wear are getting a new lease of life in the hands of the French:

In 2005, after Patrice, feiyue’s marketing director, found the “feiyue” rubber shoes, a new “feiyue” creative team was set up to plan and package the “feiyue” shoes and interpret the brand as “Flying forward”. In February 2006, the new “leap” series for European and American markets was born. Prices range from 50 to 120 euro.

The product line is mostly named under the special Chinese martial arts style, under the special Soul style and the special white and black styles that are created under the special Shaolin Soul style

The French breathe new life into the leap, adding many other elements to its indelible Chinese heritage, working with other brands and adding other colors and styles.

You wonder, is this brand still Chinese? Some say that big bowen, the company that licensed the Feiyue trademark, misused the brand and let the French take advantage of it by registering the Feiyue trademark.

So it can be said that France feiyue and China feiyue cut off the mother-child relationship.

Feiyue marketing director patrice said in a report: “” we have repeatedly stressed that we will fly with the most sincere heart and China will be closely linked… I hope the Chinese people will be proud of us, because with our efforts, we have become the first classic Chinese brand to gain recognition in the international fashion industry.

Can’t we do these things by ourselves?

I am sad to see this sentence: what belongs to us has been used by France to help us become an international brand. Belongs to our history and the historical culture under the product, by the French eye to know the gold, sells in Europe, then looks at the national product feiyue in China is the scene? Is it because Chinese people don’t appreciate their own history and culture or because China really doesn’t have the strength to make an international brand? China’s history believes that no country can match it, yet no Chinese brand has ever been internationalized.

The only people who can save the status quo of Chinese brands are the Chinese themselves.

How does this military necessity grow to be an iconic staple?

An iconic piece of fashion nowadays

Everyone knows the iconic trench coat but few know how does this iconic fashion get it start. Women always look elegant and free wearing the trench coat and men look handsome and graceful, which make this garment become a necessity in everyone’s wardrobe nowadays. Trench coat is also one of my favorite outerwear that I often wear in different occasions. I always wonder how a piece of garment can be recognized iconic by almost everyone and I believe there must be a reason. Today, let’s dig into the secret behind this pop trench coat.

History

The popular trench coat is not as simple as it seems since it can be dated back to 150 years ago and originated from the troops. It was the product of World War I and was recognized as the most significant design at that time, although it may seem like incompatible with military uniform. It was not long before the war become the trench warfare, which protected the troops but also brought a series of problems including humid environment in rainy days and accumulated water. To solve the problem, the military officers need a type of light-weighted and waterproof accessory, which gave born to “Trench Coat”.

Who design it? The genuine inventor

Although Aquascutum and Burberry both advocated the inventory of the trench coat, the military officer hierarchy was the actual inventor of the coat.

However, these two brands did invent the new waterproof fabric respectively and applied it into the outerwear, which brought them lots of orders from the armies and the design of the trench coat finalized since then.

Classic color of trench coat

The most classic color of trench coat must be khaki. Khaki was originally used to describe the color of British uniforms in World War I, since the color was first used in the Indian colonial war, and in Hindi “khaki” means “dust”.

Design

Every element features military purpose

The design followed the uniform of that time: The coat is long, hits at the ankles or calves and features epaulettes, storm flaps, buckles and metal D-rings. As this was developed for military use, every one of the features serves a purpose.

Traditional elements

Large lapels of Napoleonic style and the double row of 10 buttons is obviously the military tradition. The length of the coat exceeded the knees is designed to move conveniently in the trench. On one hand the design of chatelaine considered convenience, on the other hand took military posture into account. The metal D-rings has no actual functions but have become a necessity on each design of the coat. The collars and cuffs can be tightened closely to prevent not only the rain and wind but also the chemical weapons such as poison gas, which show the cruelty of the war. There is one part on the trench coat that people don’t know the use of it, which is a piece of cloth on one side of the chest, some of which are even pinned by a button. As a matter of fact, this piece of cloth was designed to withstand against the gun that are put in front of it, to make the coat more wear-resisting. On the back shoulder of the trench coat, there is also an additional piece of cloth, which is actually an innovative design of the military cape at that time. Because the shoulder is the part that gets the most rain, a small cape is added here to allow the rainwater to flow along it and prevent it from seeping into the trench coat along the seam. What’s more, for the convenience , the big pocket which was used to put maps or other important warlike tools and the lower hem are respectively designed with buttons and belts.

How did it evolve?

The trench coat was also brought into life from the battlefield after the end of the first world war and quickly became a symbolic fashion element that has been handed down to this day. From Gone With the Wind to Casablanca, from James Bond to Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the images of these classic icon wearing trench coat were all imprinted in people’s minds, which made it a fashion that never goes out of style.

Nowadays, trench coat has been adjusted to the trend of fashion year by year. Brands provide more and more choices such as different colors, slimmer tailor, various length and other change about the details.

No matter how the trench coat evolves, when it comes to the trench coats, they are still the clean and neat image of double-breasted garment in khaki in people’s mind.

Tweed, the collision of retro and modern

The trend of the 1950s can be summed up in one word — Hour-glass. Women must highlight the curve of the chest and waist, especially the pursuit of a slim waist, which reminds people of the waist in Europe in the old days. At a time when everyone else was looking for a slim figure, Coco Chanel, 71, introduced tweed suits that were designed to soften the waist and free women from the bondage of shapewear.

However, the born of tweed suit was a coincidence. In the 1920 s, Coco Chanel accidentally put on the coat of her lover, the duke of Westminster, and she was deeply affected by this fluffy and soft coat. More importantly, she found the fabric have always been able to keep clothes the most perfect state, and can perfectly show the grace and motions. It is the special texture which is made of different types of threads that highlight the perfect figure of clothes and people.

In the 1930s, Chanel switched to a factory in northern France and began experimenting to incorporate new fabrics like wool and silk into her tweed designs. Chanel structured her jacket to fit more like a cardigan and less restrictive than other fashion available to women at the time.

Tweed was primarily manufactured in Scottish twill mills, where Chanel discovered the true diversity of the fabric. Chanel’s passion for feminizing tweed by implementing new colors, materials, and textures to the then-underutilized fabric took the fashion world by storm, inspiring other French couturiers to employ her methods.

The classic look with the tweed jacket

Look1: a pair of jeans, a white shirt and a tweed jacket

“In the world of fashion, something that never go out of fashion is a pair of jeans, a white shirt and a Chanel coat” –Karl Lagerfeld

The best thing about tweed jackets is that they have a strong sense of design, but the worst thing about them is that they are too “dramatic” and “well-behaved.” If you don’t wear them well, you will look a little bit old.

White shirt and jeans can neutralize the “formal” of the jacket and add more vitality to the whole outfit.

The Chanel cruise 2017 show in Havana, Cuba also showcases this classical and modern look that adds more modern elements.

Romantic and retro, feminine and cute, comfortable and soft, the tweed coat are suitable in many different occasions. All we need to do is to change the pieces that paired with the tweed jacket.

Look2: Tweed suit

The tweed suit is the symbol of female and elegance. We often see this look at fashion weeks where celebrities or super models wear this suit to see the show.

The whole suite may looks a little bit serious in daily life. We can add more vitality by pair it with a shirt with letters or cartoons on it or pair it with a pair of flat shoes.

Today, the Chanel tweed suit remains a symbol of the classic fashion and is redesigned in new methods in every season. Styles differ, but they all maintain the same design ethos introduced by Coco over 90 years ago.

No matter how it changes, the essence of it will never change, which is to make the people who wear it comfortable and at the meantime show the femininity and elegance of women.

Look for “women” in the legendary little black dress

“If there is no women, there is no dress.”– Coco Chanel

The first Chanel LBD in 1926

On October 1, 1926, Vogue published Coco Chanel’s new design: a simple, knee-length black dress. This design was an absolute shock to the fashion world at the time since black was a symbol of funeral, but not any more. Since then, little black dress steps into the world of fashion.

Then, in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s , Audrey Hepburn wears the sleeveless little black dress from Givenchy, matched with sunglasses and long black gloves, standing in front of the shopwindow. This scene has become the classic image that are deeply imprinted in people’s mind. Since then, the little black dress has become a classic in the world of fashion and a staple in women’s wardrobes.

A dress with personality

Feminism and personality is the attribute of CoCo Chanel as well as the little black dress. When Coco Chanel was making the first collection of the little black dresses, one of the most popular designer at that time called Paul Poiret asked her ” who are you mourning by designing this formal dress? ” “for you, Sir.”she answered, without changing her countenance. This legendary women always broke the rule, for women and even for people.

It is the powerful weapon of a women to show herself and her attitude towards female liberation. Nowadays, it is still a symbol of independent and thoughtful women. The difference is there are various little black dresses that are developed based on the essence of it. People wear it to the all kinds of parties, wear it during work and even wear it in daily life.
